Having 4 kids, I can tell you first-hand, installing car seats is one of my least favorite things to do. Aside from being a physical work-out, and a real pain-in-the-butt (especially if you have a smaller car, or a bigger body--because I don't know about you, but I can barely stand up in the back of my van, let alone contourt myself into the positions required to install those blasted things!) it's also a bit overwhelming to keep up with expirations dates and recalls and such.

That's why when I hear about free car-seat safety checks, I'm all over them, like a bee on honey! I was excited to hear that the fine folks at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center are teaming up with Safe Kids Maine,  and Quirk Chevrolet Cadillac of Bangor to offer free safety checks, once a month, for the next few months, starting this weekend! According to their facebook page, "the technicians at the car seat safety event will check for recalls and thoroughly evaluate every car seat to ensure they are the right size. "

The event will take place Saturday from 10-1 at Quirk Chevrolet Cadillac of Bangor, right on the Hogan Rd. The organizers suggest that if you do want to get your car seats checked, its best to make an appointment by going to the website MaineSeatCheck.org.

A little bit of time and checking gives you such piece of mind and takes the guess work out of such an important part of keeping your kids safe. So if you get a chance, especially if you're a newer parent, and have questions, this is something that could really be helpful to you, and it's free!
