Got a pile of old electronics taking up space at your house? The Challenger Learning Center wants to help you, while you help them! It's holding a summer E-Waste Event Saturday morning (June 13th) from 8AM to Noon. For a small cash or check donation, you can bring those electronics to them, and they'll dispose of them for you!

All the money they collect will go directly to Learning Center's STEM efforts get Maine students excited about learning science, technology, engineering and math programs.

Because of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Challenger Learning Center has made some changes to how they usually hold these events. First, for those in high-risk categories, they will have an early drop-off, from 7:30 to 7:50 AM. They are also asking that once you arrive at their facility (at 30 Ventura Way in Bangor) you remain in your car, and follow the signs to the correct lane. From there, someone will come and assist you by removing the e-waste from the your vehicle.

"First there will be a bin to drop your cash/check donation. Next there will be a drop off lane location for your vehicle. You will park and remain in your vehicle. An e-waste collection employee will remove the item from the trunk of your vehicle."

For a complete list of what's being accepted, you can check out the Center's Facebook Page. For instance, they can accept things like monitors, televisions, printers, fax Machines, Laptops, & Cell Phones. But items that contain Freon or Mercury, like  thermometers, smoke detectors & light bulbs will not be taken.

This event is open to folks from any community. So take advantage of this "easy-in, easy-out" opportunity to get rid of some of those bulky stacks of old electronics, while you help out a good cause.
