
Belfast Announces February Ice Festival Featuring First Ever Maine Ice Carving Championship
The town of Belfast has announced the Belfast Ice Festival coming to the town for the weekend of February 25th to the 27th. This is the second year of the festival but will include a first for the festival this year, too.
You can enjoy a weekend of walking around Belfast's downtown to view the incredible craftsmanship of ice sculptures that will be placed throughout the town. You can expect to see some ice bars on your travels to enjoy a cold beverage.
An exciting part of the ice festival will be the first State of Maine Ice Carving Championship to take place during the weekend.
Here is what is listed for the weekend activities currently on Our Town Belfast website for the ice festival:
Friday, February 25th
- All Day: Ice sculptures will be displayed throughout the downtown.
Saturday, February 26
- All Day: Ice sculptures will be displayed throughout the downtown.
- 10 AM: Live ice carving to view
- 11 AM - 3 PM: State of Maine Ice Carving Championship
- Noon - 3 PM: Horse and carriage rides
- 3 PM: Live ice carving to view
- 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM: 'Magical Luminary Trail' at Belfast Rail Road. 'Coastal Mountains Land Trust will be lighting up a section of the Belfast Rail Trail, so everyone can enjoy some evening trail magic! The Land Trust will have free cookies and hot chocolate at the foot bridge. A guided excursion along the luminary trail will leave from the footbridge at 6:00 p.m. Bring footwear that correlates to the current conditions: ice grips, snowshoes or xc skis, if the conditions allow!'
Sunday, February 27
- All Day: Ice sculptures will be displayed throughout the downtown.
