Bangor Traffic Stops Net 3 Drug Arrests, Seizure of Meth
Bangor Police say 3 people have been arrested arrested on drug charges in two separate traffic stops.
An arrest on October 1st involved a vehicle containing two adults and one preschool age child, that was stopped on Center Street at approximately 6:00 in the evening. Officials say syringes and other drug paraphernalia, along with several grams of suspected methamphetamine were found inside the vehicle. As a result 33-year-old Brian Levesque of Bangor was charged with unlawful possession of a scheduled drug. Police say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be forthcoming. The Department of Health and Human Services was notified of this incident.
On September 30th, a vehicle was stopped at approximately 10 p.m. on Odlin Road, containing 40-year-old Christopher Coty of Brewer and 31-year-old Samantha Carter of Bangor. Coty, who was driving the vehicle, initially gave police a false name and date of birth. When police ran a check on that name, they found that an arrest warrant had been issued for that person. It was at this point that Coty admitted lying and gave his real name. Coty was taken into custody when it was determined that he was out on bail and driving with a revoked license.
Police searched the vehicle and seized a large amount of suspected methamphetamine, a loaded handgun, and approximately $3,000 of suspected drug trafficking proceeds. Maine Drug Enforcement was notified and charged Coty and Carter with aggravated trafficking of a schedule W drug, which is a class A felony. Coty was also charged with operating after habitual offender revocation, and violation of conditions of release, as he was on bail for drug possession and illegal possession of a firearm. Both people were taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
