If you've ever wanted to have a hand in naming something locally, here's your chance!

The City of Bangor is looking for help. They're asking the public for ideas on what to name one part of the new trail system.

We first told you about Bangor's new trail system in an article we put out back in July.

"The Connector trail has been part of a project for the past few years. The aim of the project was to connect some of the bike trails throughout Bangor, and make it easier to travel the length of them. "

In a post put out on the City Hall Facebook page, city officials say they'll be taking suggestions for a new name through next week.

"It started in Cascade Park, continued through Saxl Park on the Dorothea Dix campus, through Eastern Maine Community, and ended on Stillwater Avenue.

Recently the final piece of that trail was completed with the connection from the end of Sylvan Road to Stillwater Avenue. To this point, it has been referred to as Trail 5, but the City is looking for your input to rename the trail."
If you have an idea for a name, you can submit it via email to: parks.rec@bangormaine.gov. The City Council will bring all the ideas to the next Infrastructure Committee meeting, which takes place at the end of next month.
