A Bangor mother is facing charges after her 7-month-old is treated for ingestion of meth.

Bangor Police were called to Northern Light Hospital at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Dec.16, to a report of a 7-month-old child who had ingested methamphetamine and was unconscious. By the time detectives arrived, the baby was conscious and was being treated by the medical staff. There's no word on the child's condition.

Media outlets are reporting the infant ingested the drug through breast milk.

After an investigation into the incident, Alyssa Murch, 20, of Bangor was charged on Jan. 21 with Aggravated Furnishing a Scheduled W Drug and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Murch is expected to make her first court appearance on Feb. 20.

The investigation is ongoing.
