A Bangor man faces charges after drug agents found evidence of crack cocaine trafficking inside his apartment near a city park.

David Costa, 36, has been charged with aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine. This charge was aggravated due to the fact the Court Street residence is located less than 1,000 feet from Coe Park a designated “safe zone.”

Inside the apartment at 98 Court St., agents located approximately 10 grams of crack cocaine, almost $10,000 in suspected cash drug proceeds, as well as other evidence of drug trafficking.

Following the search, Costa was transported to the Penobscot County Jail where he was booked on the above charges and held pending a determination of bail.

Drug agents are familiar with the address. This is the 4th investigation in the past year and a half that the MDEA has conducted involving the sale of crack cocaine from this apartment building, all involving different suspects.

In May of 2014, agents arrested James Anderson, 49, of Bangor after an investigation involving the sale of crack cocaine from this building. In October of this year, agents arrested Colin Chapman, 38, of Bangor in a separate investigation involving the sale of crack cocaine from 98 Court St.

In addition, there is currently an outstanding arrest warrant for another individual. This warrant charges felony trafficking in crack cocaine stemming from a July 2015 MDEA investigation. This individual also resided at 98 Court Street.
