Bangor Man Charged After Drugs, Guns Found in Apartment

A Bangor man faces a felony drug-trafficking charge after police discovered heroin, crack cocaine and loaded handguns in his Ohio Street apartment.

John Clement, 22, faces a Class A aggravated drug trafficking charge after his Thursday arrest.

During an investigation into suspected drug trafficking in the area, police stopped a vehicle in which Clement was a passenger. Clement was on bail for a 2020 drug trafficking charge. His bail conditions allow police to search his person and his residence, police said.

In Clement's apartment, police located two loaded handguns, approximately 100 grams of crack cocaine, 90 grams of powder cocaine, 90 Oxycodone pills and 20 grams of suspected heroin.

Also seized in connection with the investigation was approximately $10,000 in cash, believed to be the proceeds from drug trafficking. The drugs seized have a street value of approximately $30,000, police said.

Clement was taken to Kennebec County Jail.

The charge were enhanced to a Class A offense because of the presence of firearms, the weight of the drugs seized and the fact that the Ohio Street apartment is less than 1000 feet of a city park designated as a "drug free safe zone."
