A Bangor man faces charges after he allegedly robbed Shaw's on Main Street Friday morning.

George Gatcomb, 69, allegedly claimed to have a firearm and passed a note to an employee demanding money at about 8:20 a.m.

Within minutes of the call, officers located Gatcomb outside the building at 353 Main Street. Gatcomb was taken into custody without incident. No weapon was displayed and none were found.

Police say Gatcomb has a lengthy criminal history and is currently on federal probation. He has been charged with Robbery Class B, and is currently being held at the Penobscot County Jail.

His bail has been set at $5,060.
