Bangor Humane Society Latest Place To Close For A Bit ‘Cause of Covid
The latest casualty of Covid Closure (as I'm going to start calling it at this point) is the Bangor Humane Society. The temporary closure comes as the organization announced, via their Facebook Page this morning, that an employee has recently been confirmed positive with the virus.
"This employee has had no contact with the public. All close contacts within the shelter have begun quarantine and the shelter will be CLOSED for deep cleaning and disinfecting through Monday, August 23rd. We will continue to closely monitor the situation in the best interests of our staff and the public, and at this time plan to reopen at 1pm on Tuesday, August 24th."
The message goes on to say that the shelter will be operating with a bare bones staff in the interim, who will be caring for the animals. Those with questions or concerns are directed to call the Bangor Humane Society at 207-942-8902.
In the past 2 weeks, as cases of Covid-19 have been on the rise across the state, many area restaurants and organizations have had to close temporarily due to confirmed Covid situations. Other major festivals and events have also decided to cancel or change course because of the virus. And we're not even into the typical cold and flu season months yet. If this is the trend, it doesn't bode well for the coming months.
