East Millinocket Police arrested a man on Monday who they say flipped his ATV in a store parking lot and then urinated in the cruiser.

Did you ever have one of those days when things just go from bad to worse, and you can't seem to do anything right? That was the kind of day this Millinocket man was having when he allegedly had too much to drink and ended up being taken into custody on a number of charges.

How Did It Start?

East Millinocket Police were called to a Central Street convenience store Monday afternoon for a report of a customer who had flipped his ATV over in the parking lot and then fought with a customer. By the time the officers arrived, however, the man had left the area.

A short time later, Officer Gibberson caught up to 40-year-old Derrick Sirois of Millinocket as he recklessly rode his ATV at a high rate of speed down Central Street. A chase ensued when Sirois refused to stop and continued on through residential neighborhoods. He was caught when some local residents told the officer where he was hiding behind an apartment building.

When Did the Bad Situation Get Worse?

Sirois was not going to go easily and became very combative with Officer Gibberson, including allegedly making several threats of serious bodily harm against the police. Several cops showed up to help, and they were able to get him into the car. Then, while they were driving to the police department, Sirois allegedly urinated in the cruiser.

What Charges Does He Face?

Derrick Sirois is charged with operating under the influence, eluding an officer, operating after suspension, failure to submit to arrest, criminal threatening, and criminal mischief. He also has an active warrant for his arrest for failing to appear on a previous criminal charge.

This investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.
