If you haven't noticed yet (and how could you not with all the back-to-school sales and pumpkin spice memes all over the place!?) fall is fast approaching!

Fall, to me, means apples; apple pie, apple cider, Cinnamon-apple smells--but most of all apple picking! So I wanted to find out when the local orchards opened this year. I was surprised, when I checked online, to see some orchards are opening as early as this weekend!

If you're in the mood to do a little early picking, Conant Apple Orchard in Etna will be one of the first places around to open for the apple season. According to their Facebook Page, the apple crop is "looking good this year!" They'll be open for business this Saturday August 10th at 9AM!

Not far behind them, Treworgy Family Orchards, in Levant, will be opening for apple picking this Labor Day weekend. Their Facebook page says if you want to check out their "Blueberries For Sal" corn maze, or go pick blueberries or raspberries, you can do those things now.

Mainely Apples in Dixmont and North Chester Orchard in Chester both open the second weekend in September. And the rest of the orchards in Penobscot County open between the last weekend in September and the first weekend in October.

For a list of orchards across the state, you can go to the website, maineapples.org.
