2nd Annual ‘Bags For Ben’ Tournament In Bangor
Sign up to throw some bags and raise money in honor of late Maine State Police Detective, Ben Campbell
Mark your calendars! The Sea Dog Brewing Company is holding the second annual Bags for Ben Corn hole tournament. This is a 2-day event and just like last year all proceeds will go to Maine State Trooper Ben Campbell’s wife and son. Saturday Sept 19 will be the doubles tournament and Sept 20 will be the singles tournament. There are cash prizes to the top 3 finishers. There will be a drawing for gift cards and prizes from local businesses. This year they also have T-shirts for sale. There are only 144 total shirts. They are 12.00 each.

Detective Ben Campbell was struck and killed by a vehicle tire while assisting at the scene of a disabled vehicle on I-95 south of Coldbrook Road in Hampden, on April 3rd, 2019. Cambell came across a vehicle that had slid off the interstate due to inclement weather and stopped to provide assistance. As he was standing outside of his department vehicle two wheels of a passing logging truck separated from the vehicle. One of the wheels struck Detective Campbell.
Detective Campbell was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor where he succumbed to his injuries.
Detective Campbell had served with the Maine State Police for nine years and was assigned to the Polygraph Unit. He is survived by his wife and son.
