A man from Brooklyn, New York is charged with murder for the shooting death of a Biddeford resident.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says 20-year-old Timothy Ortiz is accused of killing 30-year-old Jonathan Methot inside the victim's Biddeford apartment house early Monday morning. Ortiz has been held since Monday at the Cumberland County Jail on a probation violation out of New York, unrelated to this week's shooting. He is on probation for aggravated sex trafficking and a drug charge. Ortiz made a court appearance on that probation violation this morning and was formally charged with murder.

He's expected to be transferred to the York County Jail in Alfred today and will make a court appearance on the murder charge on Monday in York County.
