Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for a number of Maine counties on Monday. The entire state was under a severe thunderstorm watch for much of the day.

In many of the advisories issued by the weather service, forecasters said the storms were capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.

At 4:15 p.m., Emera Maine reported 2,145 power outages, mostly in Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties.
