Ellsworth City Hall and the Hancock County Courthouse closed early Tuesday afternoon, June 2nd as protesters gathered in support of George Floyd and Black Lives Matter.

There were about 100 peaceful, vocal protestors gathered in the Ellsworth City Hall parking lot when I drove through around 5:30 p.m. There were chants directed at Ellsworth Police Command Staff to "Take a Knee" and "Black Lives Matter" as well crowd members speaking, met with applause.

Ellsworth Police estimated the crowd totaled 350 at its maximum

Both the Ellsworth Police Department and Hancock County Sheriff's Department brought in extra personnel. The Ellsworth Fire Department and ambulances staged at the Downeast Family YMCA parking lot
