Although we won’t get to see Diana back on the big screen until next year, director Patty Jenkins has been sharing some early sneak peeks from the sequel, including our first look at Kristen Wiig as the villain.
Boy, that Apple wasn’t kidding about their entry into the TV business. Atop high-profile projects from Reese Witherspoon and Steven Spielberg, the tech giant has now booked SNL alum Kristen Wiig for a new ten-episode comedy with Witherspoon producing.
The Golden Globes have a reputation as a kind of edgy awards ceremony. (Well, edgy by the standards of awards shows anyway.) But this year’s host, Jimmy Fallon, is about as edgy as sphere, and his monologue lacked the bite of other previous hosts like Ricky Gervais. The only really funny moment of the night came during one of the awards presentations, when Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig took the stage to give out the Golden Globes for Best Animated Feature.
SNL was bound to tackle Westworld eventually, but like the series itself, we’d need a good twist in the process. See how the mundanity of reporting on Trump scandals takes a trip out West when SNL tackles Anderson Cooper 360 in Kristen Wiig’s return episode.
Complicit or otherwise, SNL knew that the first post-election show needed a note of relief, moreso than reminders of Trump’s victory. Presidential portrayer Alec Baldwin even expressed uncertainty he’d ever don the wig for SNL again, but sources confirm the sketch series’ take on Trump will return Baldwin to the limelight with Kristen Wiig this weekend.
We’re still not entirely certain how SNL will fare with controversial (if revered) comedian Dave Chappelle hosting the first post-election episode, but at least the end of November looks a bit more familiar. Kristen Wiig will make her second return to SNL, hosting the final installment of this long, gloomy month.
