Bangor police on Tuesday arrested a local man in connection with a robbery at the Big Apple convenience store on State Street.

David Carr, 25, of Bangor was charged with robbery (class B felony) and possession of scheduled drugs (class C felony).

Police responded to the store after a clerk reported the robbery Nov.12 at approximately 9 p.m.

The employee told police the suspect fled the store and ran up Grove Street. Patrol officers and a K-9 unit searched the area but did not locate the suspect.

State police assisted Carr later that night after he ran out of gas on Interstate 95 in Bangor. State police notified the Bangor Police Department after Carr made comments to troopers that were considered suspicious.

Police executed a search warrant at Carr's home, and the suspect met with detectives Tuesday afternoon. He was placed under arrest after the meeting and taken to the Penobscot County Jail.

Police said Carr faces an additional charge of possession of scheduled drugs after he brought suspected narcotics inside the police station.
