Portland Police are investigating a possible shooting near Maine Medical Center this morning.

A witness told the Portland Press Herald that they saw a woman get out of a small car and then heard several popping noises. Two men, who the witness said appeared to be the targets, fled the scene. One neighbor told the paper she was glad her children were out because she came home to find a bullet hole in her window.

Police arrived at 109 Gilman Street in protective gear and entered the building with two K-9's. Since then, police have fanned out around the area, gathering evidence. There's no word on what prompted the shooting, but neighbors say the police have been at 109 Gilman Street frequently in recent months.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
