The York County Sheriff's Department rescued a woman from the Saco River in Limington over the weekend... then arrested her.

According to WGME 13, police say that when they pulled 37-year-old Kimberly Hayford and another man out of the Saco River rapids, they ran her ID for a warrants check, and arrested her for failure to pay an outstanding $720 fine for an OUI conviction.

Hayford and the unnamed man were stranded on a rock in the middle of the rapids when their raft was punctured and deflated. When police arrived, her problems seemed to get worse.

According to the story on WGME, first responders say they checked the pair's identification and checked for warrants as part of "standard procedure."

Today's lesson: Don't call the cops if you've got warrants! (kidding, but really)
