I don't understand. Just put it on.

Sometimes I will be walking, wearing a mask and think I'm an extra in a sci-fi movie. A bad movie. But it's reality. We are in the midst of a global pandemic with no vaccine. Over 400,000 people have died worldwide, over 100,000 of those here in the U.S.

In Maine, we have lost 100 Mainers to the disease. Despite that number, it's low in comparison to other states. Just a 100 miles south in Massachusetts, they've had over 7,400 deaths.

Part of how we've kept the number low comes with being safe. Staying home, social distancing and wearing a mask. You are required to wear a mask in every store you go into, and yet - there they are people without masks. In the grocery store, in the convenient store, in the big box store...some people have no mask on.

I'm gonna say this once:

Seriously...do you think we like wearing a mask? We don't. They are hot, they itch and sneezing in one will ruin a day. But it's what we have to do. It's to protect people. It's to keep people from getting a virus that we have no vaccine for.

So please...put it on. Do something, because there is simply no excuse.
