Going Inside A Bangor School This Fall? Get Ready To Mask Up

You might want to add "masks" to your back-to-school shopping lists if you're in the Bangor area.

Bangor's new Superintendent, James Tager, sent word to parents, students, and staff this week to get ready to mask when school starts this fall.

According to an email put out by the Bangor School Department, Tager said schools in the city will be following the latest CDC guidelines when it comes to masking:

"The CDC recommends universal indoor masking for all teachers, staff, students, and visitors to K-12 schools, regardless of vaccination status. All students and school employees will be required to wear masks while they are inside any school building. All people on public or private school-provided transport, including buses, vans, and sport-related travel, are required to wear a mask."

This rule applies to parents and visitors to schools, as well.

Tager says students will not be made to mask outside.

Bangor's plan is to resume full-time, in-person learning this year, and Tager says while he understands masks can be an inconvenience, he says masking will allow students to participate in extra-curricular activities, along with move about the schools more freely.

In the email, he also reminded folks that if any student or staff member isn't feeling well,  they should stay home and contact their healthcare provider for advice on testing and care.

School starts, for most Bangor Schools, Wednesday, September 1.
