Michaels To Open in Former A.C. Moore Building in Bangor

Michaels will open a store in the former A.C. Moore building on Stillwater Avenue in Bangor.

A giant red banner reading "Coming soon. Visit michaels.com to apply," hangs on the store's location at 510 Stillwater Avenue in the Parkade Mall.

In November, A.C. Moore announced it would close all of its U.S. stores including those in Bangor, Augusta and South Portland. About 40 of those stores -- although none were specified -- would reopen as Michaels, which operates more than 1,260 arts and crafts stores in 49 states and Canada.

There currently are three Michaels locations in the state -- Augusta, Biddeford and Scarborough.

It's unclear when the new Bangor location will open, but we've made contact with representatives at Michaels and will update this story with any information.
