A Maine corn maze has been voted the best in the country by a USA TODAY Reader's Choice competition.

Mainers love their corn mazes and, this year, one is standing tall among a field of more than 500 across the country. USA TODAY just announced the winners for the '10 BEST Readers' Choice Awards,' and Treworgy Family Orchard tops the list, as the nation's best corn maze. Each category in the contest was narrowed down to the 20 best by the publication's editors, and then the public was allowed to vote.

This year's maze at the Levant farm is the Corn Ships Ahoy, and features a large sailing vessel that many patrons have been referring to as a pirate ship. A lot of planning goes into the mazes each year, from coming up with the concept, to mapping out the cornfield, planting the seeds, and then cutting the four acre cornfield into a maze. The Levant family has been doing it since 2001, with shapes that have included Paul Bunyan, the Lost Locomotive, and a Rascally Rabbit.

Maze enthusiasts can find other configurations of corn in Orrington, Corinna, and Monroe.
