COVID-19 has made not working out easy... too easy.

Working out, and being healthy, dropped like crazy when shutdowns went into place. Gyms closed, and we stayed home.

This is bad news, since we all know the benefits of being physical and working out.

Researchers at RetailMeNot analyzed recent CDC data to find the most physically active cities in the United States. Maine came in as one of the least physically active states.

Mountain and Western states have the highest percentage of physically active adults with Utah and Colorado leading the way at 81.5 percent and 81.3 percent, per the report. Washington and Montana were also over 80 percent activity.

The states with the lowest levels of being physically active were found in the south, with Oklahoma, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Alabama all reporting rates lower than 70 percent, according to Retailmenot. In Mississippi, only 62.3 percent of adults report being physically active. That is the lowest in the country.

The analysis found that in Maine, 69.9% of adults reported being physically active outside of work within the last 30 days, which is lower than the national average of 73.7%.

Here is a summary of the data for Maine from the article:

  • Percentage of adults who are physically active: 69.9%
  • Percentage of adults in good physical health: 86.0%
  • Percentage of adults in good mental health: 85.8%
  • Median household income: $58,924
