Authorities In Dover-Foxcroft Have A Man They Considered “Armed & Dangerous” In Custody
A man who spurred a day-long shelter-in-place order in Dover-Foxcroft, and who multiple law enforcement agents from across the state have been looking for since Friday, is finally in police custody.
According to the Dover-Foxcroft Police Department, 36-year-old Ryan Moorside was discovered by police early Saturday afternoon. But they're not saying much more than that.
"Ryan Mooreside has been safely apprehended and is currently in police custody! Additional information will be released later today."
A shelter-in-place order was issued early Friday afternoon. The police asked residents of Piscataquis County to be vigilant and very careful, warning that they believed the man was armed and dangerous.
Mooreside was the subject of a massive manhunt on Friday. Troopers from the Maine State Police, along with local Police and Sheriff's Departments, and even the Maine Warden Service, spent the day in Piscataquis County searching for him in town and along the ATV trails. They used helicopters and K-9 Units to look for him.
By noon on Saturday, they had lifted the shelter-in-place order, but still urged caution.
Just a few hours later, Mooreside had been contained.
We will update the story as new details are released.
