Brewer City Officials are getting ready to unveil another exciting addition to the Brewer Riverwalk this week.

Brewer Public Works crews have been busy making the last preparations for the 'Cool Tones on the Riverwalk', an interactive addition to the trail featuring stationary musical instruments that visitors can utilize to make a variety of sounds.

Renee Doble, Deputy Director of Economic Development for the City of Brewer, says the new installation is located between the Penobscot Street Parking lot at the northern end of the trail and the tunnel that runs under the Chamberlain Bridge.

Since 1888, the property has belonged to Getchell Brothers Ice, and has been the location of their business and Brewer's history and community.

Getchell Brothers made a generous donation towards the installation of the 'Cool Tones on the Riverwalk' installation. Halloween afternoon at 2:30 PM, Brewer's Mayor, Jenn Morin, and the owner of Getchell Brothers Ice will cut the Ribbon to open the interactive display officially.

"The City of Brewer is proud to honor this legacy through this new park, made possible by the support of Getchell Brothers. This vibrant, interactive music park is designed for spontaneous creativity, with a variety of instruments—including tubular bells, a xylophone, and babel drums—that invite everyone, from young children to experienced musicians, to play and connect with the river’s natural beauty. 'Cool Tones on the Riverwalk' is more than just a park; it’s a celebration of art, nature, and community along the Penobscot River."

Doble says the City hopes the display becomes a gathering place for musicians of all ages and skill levels, and hopes it gets used to bring people together through creativity.
