A man from Bangor was put behind bars after threatening to do someone harm with a knife.

The incident took place in Downtown Bangor this weekend, authorities say.

Public Information Officer with the Bangor Police Department, Jason McAmbley, says the Bangor PD received a 911 call from a man, just before 3 PM Saturday, detailing that someone threatened to stab and kill him.

"The victim told police a man later identified as Roux had threatened him while they were in the area of Harlow and Franklin Streets, and the victim ran from Roux. A description of the suspect was put out to officers, and Roux was located near Cross and Main Streets a few minutes later and taken into custody. The weapon described by the victim was located and seized."

McAmbley says the 40-year-old man was arrested and taken to Penobscot County Jail. He's been charged with Criminal Threatening with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault. McAmbley says the incident was unrelated to the large gatherings of folks downtown that day to participate in Bangor's Pride Day Celebrations.
