A search is underway for someone who reportedly jumped off the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge and into the Penobscot River.

When Did This Happen?

According to the Maine Marine Patrol, the person was seen jumping from the bridge at approximately 1:46 Thursday afternoon. The person's identity is unknown at this time. Witnesses called 911 and multiple agencies responded to the scene. The Maine Marine Patrol says the search will resume on Friday, with crews concentrating on the area of the river directly around the Chamberlain Bridge.

Who's Involved in the Search?

The Maine Marine Patrol joined members of the Bangor and Brewer Police and Fire Departments as they looked for the individual. A Maine Forest Service Helicopter helped in the search, as well as the Maine Underwater Recovery Team. So far, there's been no sign of the person.
