Once the fire was under control, firefighters found Towle's remains inside the residence.

The home sustained significant fire damage.

Maine State Fire Marshal Can't Determine the Cause of a Skowhegan Fire

The Maine State Fire Marshal's Office was called in to investigate the cause of the fire, while Towle's body was sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Investigators were able to determine that the fire started in the garage, but that's as far as their investigation would take them.

The damage was so great that they were unable to determine exactly how the fire started.

Our condolences to Ms. Towle's family and friends.
