Police Have Identified the Flagger Struck By a Vehicle in Orland
The Hancock County Sheriff's Office says Charles Resh, 24, of Searsport was working in traffic control in a construction zone on Acadia Highway when he was hit by a passing vehicle just before 7:00 Tuesday morning. He was transported to Northern Light Maine Coast Memorial Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The vehicle, a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Clint Clagett, 70, of Bucksport, sustained damage to the front bumper, hood, and grill in the crash. Mr. Clagett was not hurt.

Officials say Resh was allowing eastbound traffic to travel in the westbound lane, since the eastbound lane was being paved at the time of the incident. Clagett's vehicle struck Resh in the eastbound lane, causing fatal injuries.
Five members of the Orland Fire Department responded to the construction zone near the Orland/Ellsworth town line Tuesday morning for a report of a serious car vs. pedestrian crash. According to a post on the department's Facebook page, LifeFlight was unavailable so the units diverted to the Acadia Highway and Surry Road intersection to re-route traffic while rescue crews worked.
No Charges Have Been Filed for the Fatal Crash in Orland
The crash remains under investigation. At this time, there's no indication about whether any charges will be filed.
Our sincerest condolences to Mr. Resh's family, friends, and coworkers.
