Maine Man Who Tried to Help NH Police Now Facing Firearms Charges
A Maine man who fired a shotgun at a suspect fleeing New Hampshire police is now facing charges.
An Acton Resident is Facing a Firearms Charge For an Incident at a Roadblock
Robert Sprague, 55, of Acton is charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon for an incident involving a fleeing suspect and a citizen roadblock.

New Hampshire Police Began the Pursuit that Made Its Way Into Maine
The incident began when police in Milton, New Hampshire started a pursuit of a suspect on Monday that continued across the NH/Maine border and into the town of Acton. Before the suspect entered Maine, their tires were deflated when the driver crossed a spike mat in New Hampshire.
Acton Residents Formed a Roadblock to Help New Hampshire Police
According to the York County Sheriff's Office, the slow-speed pursuit continued into Maine where some Acton residents came out of their Foxes Ridge Road homes and formed a roadblock. One resident, Robert Sprague, was armed with a shotgun and allegedly fired a shot at the suspect's vehicle, striking the vehicle's trunk lid. There are no reports of anyone being injured in the incident.
Mr. Sprague was arrested for Reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and was taken to jail, where he posted a $2,000 bail. He's scheduled to appear at the York Judicial Center on November 26, 2024.
WGME-TV reports Milton Police eventually apprehended the suspect and charged them with eluding an officer.
