An Alfred man is charged with murder for the death of his wife.

Who Are the Deceased and the Suspect?

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says James Crow, 40, of Alfred is charged with murder for the death of his wife, Kristan Crow, 39.

Where Was the Victim Found?

It was just before 3:00 Monday afternoon when members of the York County Sheriff's Office received a disturbance complaint from the house at 81 Waterboro Road in Alfred. When Deputies responded, they found a deceased woman inside who was believed, at the time, to be Kristan Crow. Officials say Crow and her husband, James, lived at the residence together.

How Was Mr. Crow Taken Into Custody?

Sheriff's Deputies and Maine State Troopers tried to reach James, who was not at home when they arrived. He was finally located by Police Officers in the parking lot of Harry's gas station on Route 111 in Lyman, where he surrendered without incident.

While Detectives worked to determine the circumstances leading up to the death, Kristan's body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta. An autopsy confirmed that the deceased was Kristan Crow and officials ruled the death a homicide. The cause of her death has not been released. James Crow was then charged with her murder.
