6 of the Most Popular Burger Places in the U.S. Have Locations in Maine
What is the most 'American' food?
When asked that question, many people will say apple pie. Right? It makes sense because we have all heard the saying that something is "as American as apple pie".
There are other options, though. Fried chicken, BBQ, hot dogs (yes, we know they have a German origin, but ours hit differently), and Buffalo wings. Let's add one more to that list, the hamburger!
With the exception of our vegetarian and vegan friends, we are pretty sure that no one can turn down a great burger!
The good news for people who love a good burger is that they are one of the most common foods available at American food restaurants. In addition to thousands of locally-owned restaurants serving up burgers, there are dozens of chain restaurants known for their amazing hamburgers and cheeseburgers.
What chain restaurants serve up the best burgers? We have the answer!
Recently, Stacker used data from YouGov to determine the top chain restaurants for getting a burger. It looks like we have a lot of options for a good burger here in Maine. The study found the six of the top 20 restaurants have at least one location here in Maine. Most had at least a handful of locations and at least a few had dozens of locations.

As you saw, Wendy's topped the list. Burger King came in 2nd place, Five Guys came in 4th place, and McDonald's came in 5th place. Red Robin came in 6th place and Ruby Tuesday was 12th on the list.

We were kind of surprised that McDonald's wasn't higher on the list. But, when it comes to hamburgers there is a lot of competition.
We were also kind of surprised to see that Ruby Tuesday was on the list. Looks like we'll have to have a burger next time we visit Ruby Tuesday. The only remaining Ruby Tuesday location in Maine is in Waterville, BTW.
