A 19-year-old man from Hollis Center is presumed dead after falling from a pontoon boat in Long Lake on Wednesday, the Maine Warden Service said.

The man was riding in the boat with seven other people, all members of families are from Maine and Texas, Cpl. John MacDonald, the spokesman for the Maine Warden Service, said in a News release on Wednesday.

The victim was riding on the front of the boat when he fell overboard and went beneath the watercraft. The other passengers told game wardens they could see the man floating in the water, and then he quickly disappearing beneath the surface. The man was not wearing a life jacket, the release said.

MacDonald said divers from the warden service and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office were attempting to recover the victim's body from the lake. He said they were focusing on an area of the lake near the Bridgton-Naples town line.

The man's name has not been released.
