Bummer, dude...

The three-day music and camping festival, Hempfest has been canceled. It was to be held this weekend in Stockholm. The festival was created to show off the many uses of hemp as food, clothing and medicine. Of course the goal was also to spread awareness concerning the legalization of recreational and medical marijuana.

Earlier this month the town of Stockholm issued a statement stating that the festival organizers have not obtained proper event permits. They needed a special amusement permit from the town, and a fire permit for campsites. Hempfest promoter, Local Noise Entertainment, said the property owner was responsible for obtaining the permits. The Rhoad Island land owner said that he was told the permits had all been taken care of.

The Music Mountain Hempfest Facebook page announced the cancellation due to 'circumstances beyond our control.'

This was the furthest north the festival had been planned. Past Hempfest events have taken place in Boston.

Looks like The Man won this time, man.
