A Hartland man faces felony robbery and aggravated assault charges in connection with the brutal attack of a woman on Monday.

Ryan Gaudet, 26, also faces charges of violating his probation for felony burglary.

The arrest came after Bangor police were called to Sixteenth Street, where a resident said an unknown woman had come to his door screaming for help. The woman left before officers arrived.

Police later located the woman, whom officers said was "hunched over and bleeding, and had significant bruising and swelling on her face." The woman told police she been brutally attacked while riding in a vehicle with other people.

Gaudet was identified as one of the passengers in the vehicle. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail in Bangor.
