A woman who almost hit a police cruiser while driving the wrong way on the interstate is now charged with OUI.

WABI-TV reports a Kennebec County sheriff's deputy was on I-95 in Palmyra just before 2:00 Friday morning when she noticed headlights coming toward her in the same lane. She turned on her blue lights and swerved to avoid a collision.

The vehicle, driven by 27-year-old Miranda Doherty of Palmyra, was stopped a short time later by other units that came in to help. According to TV-5, officials say the woman was visibly intoxicated and a breathalyzer test showed she had twice the legal limit of alcohol in her bloodstream

Doherty is charged with operating under the influence, driving to endanger, and failure to stop for an officer.
