A Biddeford woman on Tuesday was arrested at her apartment and charged with trafficking heroin, police said.

Denyielle Banks, 43, is charged with aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said Thursday in a news release.

For the past three months, MDEA agents have been investigating the sale of heroin in the Biddeford area, including making several undercover purchases of heroin from Banks, the release said.

Drug agents said the purchases were made within 1,000 feet of a designated drug-free safe zone.

Drug Agents, along with Biddeford police and the Southern Maine Violent Crime Task Force, arrested Banks at her Sullivan Street apartment and seized 74 grams of heroin with a street value of $10,500, according to the news release.

Banks was taken to the York County Jail and was being held in lieu of $25,000 bail Thursday afternoon.

Drug agents said the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
