A winter storm warning is in effect most of Maine on Thursday, with interior parts of the state expected to receive between 12 and 16 inches of new snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Winter Storm Euclid is expected to bring the first significant snowfall to the Bangor area, and hazardous driving conditions are predicted for the Thursday morning commute. The storm's high winds and driving snow have caused problems as far south as Oklahoma before heading into the Midwest on Wednesday.

While the heaviest accumulations will be reserved for interior sections of Maine, the coast is expected to pick up between 2 to 5 inches, as the snow mixes with rain.

The storm is expected to move out of the region on Friday.
