Win Prizes With Assassin’s Creed Unity Pre-Order Game

The Assassin’s Creed Unity trailer shown at E3 thrilled fans of the franchise with the first look at co-op play in the AC series. While the game is still four months away from its release date, Ubisoft has given gamers a convincing incentive to pre-order now with the Assassin’s Creed Unity Guillotine Prize Drop.

The video above announces pre-ordering Assassin’s Creed Unity will make players eligible to play a new spin-to-win game that offers an impressive array of prizes for the winners. Each Friday, players will receive five chances to spin a slot machine for a chance to win exclusive downloadable content for the game as well as real-world goodies. Prizes include consoles with Assassin’s Creed Unity skins, home entertainment systems, props from the game and trips to Comic-Con and Ubisoft’s studios in Monteal. Each spin counts as an entry to win the Grand Prize; an all-expenses paid trip to Paris, France, the city that plays host to Assassin’s Creed Unity. The earlier they pre-order, the more chances players will have to win, so those who have already decided that they are going to buy the game have a good reason to do so as soon as possible.

Aside from the random chance of the slot machine, pre-orders will also include a sure thing in the form of the exclusive in-game Chemical Revolution Mission. This mission presumably involves the great French chemist, Antoine Lavoisier, whose theories on chemistry resulted in a reformulation of the science from which the mission draws its name. Lavoisier lived and worked in Paris at the time of the game's setting, so it's likely he'll be depicted in the mission, and possibly in the larger game, possibly filling a similar role to that of Leonardo DaVinci in Assassin's Creed II.

From a publishing standpoint, maximizing pre-orders is an extremely important part of marketing a Triple-A title, and incentives like this are a good way to increase numbers very early on while letting the consumer benefit from the practice, as well. With this announcement coming so early, it will be interesting to see if Ubisoft offers any more incentives when the game gets closer to its Oct. 28 release date.
