With only 5 days until the beginning of the EMHS CMNH 27.2 mile “Miracle Marathon” happening September 15th thru October 12th, I have to say I’m quite ready to embark on this unique style marathon.

It’s one thing to run 2-3 miles on a semi regular basis as I try to do, but this is 27 straight days of running 1 mile, each day. No breaks. No days off. Quite the commitment, but a commitment I am ready to make to accomplish my goal!

Over the last week, I have been able to spread the word about the 27.2 mile “Miracle Marathon” throughout my network here in the Bangor area, as well as my other friends and family members around the station and country. That’s because anyone can participate in this incredible 27 day marathon experience, all you have to do is move 1 mile per day however you choose, including walking, running, swimming, biking, kayaking or any other way you would like!

Everyone has been amazed by how easy it is to register at www.miraclemarathon.org . Set your personal fundraising goal, and make the commitment to raise money for your local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital! Each day starting September 15th, you’ll receive a daily challenge, story, inspirational message or something fun to get you motivated, and on the final day of the challenge – October 12th – we will all walk our last 1.2 miles together at 2:27pm. No matter where you are, let’s complete the challenge together!

So you’re all registered and ready to go, but you might be wondering, “How do I track my distance each day?” Well here is a quick guide to help you with that:

How many minutes are in a mile?

  • 20 minutes of walking
  • 10 minutes of running
  • 5 minutes of bicycling
  • 15 minutes of swimming
  • 20 minutes of kayaking

How far is a mile?

  • 8 neighborhood blocks
  • 32 laps in a pool
  • 2 laps at a mall
  • 4 laps on a track
  • Or simply 2200 steps!

It’s time to take the challenge and join me on the marathon journey that is the EMHS CMNH 27.2 mile Miracle Marathon”, September 15th thru October 12th. Be sure to register today at www.miraclemarathon.org
