Where You Can Fling Apples and Smash Pumpkins in Maine this Fall

Picking apples is fun, shooting them at targets is AWESOME!

Ever seen a corn cannon? How about an apple slingshot? Well here in Maine we have all the above! It's time to head to the orchards for apples and pumpkins. Here's where you can do just that and have a 'blast' too.

Apple Acres Farm:

Located at 363 Durgintown Road in South Hiram, here you can pick-your-own apples. You can also fling some with their Apple Blaster. The apple slingshot is made of a wood frame with big, rubber bands to send those apples soaring.

Pumpkin Valley Farm:

This Dayton farm has a pick and buy your own pumpkin patch, a corn maze and a corn cannon! An ear of corn is loaded into a steel pipe and blasted at targets by compressed air. The 'corn cops' look over shooting range and load the cannons for everyone for safety. Are you a good shot? You could win some prizes and even cash!

Pumpkin Launch at Ghostport:

Here's a way to really send a pumpkin flying, the Trebuchet Pumpkin Launch as a part of the Ghostport festivities. The catapult has a 400-pound counter weight to fling the pumpkins up to 70 yards at floating wood targets.anchored in the river. Pay just $2 and you can pull the trigger (rope) on that bad boy!
