What Town Inspired ‘Under the Dome?’

Drum roll please!

Stephen King is known for showing his home state some love in his books, movies and TV shows. So what town is Chester Mills based on? Bridgton!

King said in an interview:

'I live 18 miles out of town and I’ve lived there for a long time. I looked at the police station, that’s the police station in the book. I just used the geography, the lake; everything is there.'

King even went as far as to include some of the people he knows that live in the town.

The town is hoping to see the show bring in more tourist dollars. Unlike in Bangor, don't expect the folks of Bridgton to show you his is home. Town selectman Woody Woodward said they like to keep his privacy.
