Bangor Firefighters have been told the way they collect money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association will change this summer. We want to know whether you think it's a good idea.

The National Firefighters Association has been holding 'Fill the Boot for MDA' fundraisers for 60 years. And Bangor's department is no exception. Last year, a fire truck would sit across from the entrance to the Darling's Waterfront Pavilion and firefighters in uniform or in specific t-shirts would offer up their boots to collect donations.

But in a meeting last week, Bangor Fire Chief Scott Lucas told firefighters that the way it's done has to change. Sources tell us that Lucas said no city equipment could be used in the process, firefighters are not to wear their uniforms, and no personnel can take part while they're on-duty. A call to Chief Lucas yesterday has, so far, not been returned.

We want to know what you think. Does this ruling make sense? Or is it another case of political correctness run amok? Let us know!
