What Day Do the Bangor Pools Open?

It seems like summer, or at least the hot weather, comes around a little later here in Bangor than in other parts of the country, but there’s still plenty of time to enjoy the pools for people who want to beat the heat without leaving the city.
Although the announcement of the official date of the opening is still a couple weeks away, city officials are aiming for Monday, June 24, 2013 for the opening of Hayford Park’s Beth Pancoe Municipal Aquatic Center and the East Side’s Dakin Pool.
The Pancoe pool, completed in 2004 with the help of $1.4 million donation from author Stephen King and his wife Tabitha, is named in honor Beth Pancoe, a Bangor High School diver whose family lived next to the Kings on West Broadway. She died in 1999 after a battle with leukemia.
We will update this post with more current information once it becomes available.
