Here's a sport you see everyday. But you do see it once a year in Maine.

The 16th Annual North American Wife-Carrying Championship took place at Sunday River Saturday. Sam Brakeley and Steph Reighart of Lebanon, New Hampshire competed against 30 other couples to win the race. They had an impressive time of 1:05.30. Mike Kress and Anna-Lena Schneider of Portland came in second with a time of 1:10.70.

The couple won Reighart’s weight in beer and five times her weight in cash money. The winnings were eight 12-packs of Shock Top and two 12-packs of Bud Light, and $750.60 in cash. I suck at math, so you can solve for X.

Brakeley and Reighart now move on to the World Championship in Sonkajärvi, Finland, this July.
