Charles Later has resigned his post as Chief Pilot for the Maine Warden Service following his arrest outside a recent concert event.

The 58-year-old was charged with assaulting a police officer after a scuffle at the Sammy Kershaw concert on the Bangor waterfront September 2nd. He was placed on administrative leave by the Warden Service while officials conducted their own investigation. Later submitted his resignation on Monday, effective immediately. Warden Corporal John MacDonald said in a press release that the agency has taken 'appropriate measures' to make sure its aviation unit is prepared to cover any situation.

Later has a history of trouble with the law, most recently in 2012, when his wife called police after her husband allegedly became combative. According to the Portland Press Herald, his wife claimed he was intoxicated and breaking things around the house, ripping the phone from the wall, and shoving her. Later was placed on administrative leave with pay and charged with a Domestic Violence charge.
