A Wales man arrested in January for stealing power by connecting "jumper cable clamps" to a transformer was re-arrested Thursday for stealing electricity again, police said.

Nicholas Gagne, 36, was arrested Thursday after police, acting on a tip, went to his Oak Hill Road home and caught him climbing the same CMP power pole, the Maine Department of Public Safety said in a new release Thursday.

When Gagne spotted police, he fled into an outbuilding, where he was arrested without resistance, the release said.

Gagne was charged with violating bail conditions, theft and criminal mischief.

He is being held without bail at the Androscoggin County Jail.

In January, police said Gagne was arrested for connecting "what amounted to jumper cable clamps to the transformer and then running a power line to his house."

After his initial arrest, police said CMP attempted to disconnect the power at the residence a number of times but Gagne kept reconnecting it.
