Alt-rock greats Violent Femmes will return in March with We Can Do Anything, their first album in 16 years. Today (Jan. 13), they’ve unveiled a brand-new song dubbed “Memory” from the upcoming LP -- but it actually dates several years back.

“We even recorded it as a demo many years ago,” frontman Gordon Gano told NPR. “And then it was forgotten about until digging into [our] archives, which led us to record it anew and release it.”

It’s fitting then the super-catchy “Memory” playfully deals in just that: what can and cannot be remembered; what Gano wishes to leave buried in the past and what he wishes he could still recall. Take a listen below:

We Can Do Anything will land in stores on March 4 via PIAS. Along with “Memory,” the 10-track album features more songs from the band’s archives that have been updated for the forthcoming release (see the track list at the bottom of the page). The LP is the Violent Femmes’ first since 2000’s Freak Magnet. Last year, they returned with their Happy New Year EP.

While the band hasn't yet announced any North American tour dates, they do have a handful of shows planned in New Zealand and Australia in March. Their itinerary can be seen below.
